Film star and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s blasting statements against Kollywood star Karthi’s “Laddu issue a sensitive topic” comment during the Sathyam Sundaram pre-release event in Hyderabad caused a huge stir on social media. This morning, Karthi took to X and tendered an apology to Pawan Kalyan for the unintended misunderstanding.
And Pawan Kalyan responded to Karthi’s tweet this evening, appreciating his kind gesture and swift response, as well as the respect he has shown towards our shared traditions. Pawan told Karthi that the matters concerning our sacred institutions, like Tirupati and its revered laddus carry deep emotional weight for millions of devotees and that it’s essential for all of us to handle such topics with care.
Like Karthi, Pawan too has reiterated that the situation was unintentional. “Our responsibility as public figures is to foster unity and respect, especially regarding what we cherish most—our culture and spiritual values. Let’s always strive to uplift these values while continuing to inspire through cinema,” said the actor-turned-politician.
Pawan also expressed his admiration for Karthi, calling him a remarkable actor and for consistently enriching our cinema with his dedication. Pawan went on to wish Karthi and Sathyam Sundaram’s team, including hero Suriya and his wife Jyotika.
Also starring Arvind Swami and Sri Divya in lead roles, Sathyam Sundaram, the Telugu-dubbed version of Meiyazhagan, is directed by 96 fame Prem Kumar. The film is slated for release on September 28.
