Stree 2, spearheaded by Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, had an earth-shattering start at the box office, taking the trade pundits by surprise. The horror comedy entertainer directed by Amar Kaushik is the biggest opener of Hindi cinema this year. Fighter and Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) opened in the range of 22-24 crores nett on the opening day, and this Shraddha Kapoor starrer surpassed these biggies by double margin.

Stree 2 is not just the biggest opener (Bollywood) in 2024, but it also found a spot among the all-time top ten openers of Hindi cinema. As per early estimates, Stree 2 raked in a gargantuan 47 crores nett on the first day, which is unheard of for a film that doesn’t have a male superstar. These numbers came in despite a three-way clash, making Stree 2 even more special.

Stree 2 is likely to bag the 7th spot in the top 10 list and is ahead of Tiger 3, Happy New Year, and Bharat. If we include the paid previews, Stree 2 raked in a whopping 55 crores nett in India. Today is a working day, and it is inevitable that there will be a drop in the numbers. But if the film manages to show a big hold, then it might spring one of the biggest surprises in Indian cinema.
