Nani’s latest outing, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, had a good opening day, minting Rs. 25 crores gross worldwide. The movie’s performance is excellent in North America and other international markets, which has become the new normal for a Nani starrer. Vivek Athreya directed this action drama, and SJ Suryah played the antagonist.
Coming to the performance in Telugu states, the film showed a decent hold on its second day after a good opening day. The hold would have been much bigger if not for the heavy rains in AP. A heavy downpour is expected today in AP, Hyderabad, and other regions of Telangana, which will surely take a toll on the weekend collections.
Hence, the movie isn’t reaching its full potential at the box office despite the positive talk, and this is something that the team wouldn’t have expected. Nani’s previous flick, Hi Nanna, had a terrific long run withstanding the storm of juggernaut Salaar, and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram should now repeat Hi Nanna’s magic.
The silver lining amidst these massive rains is the Tamil version’s performance. Yesterday evening and night shows recorded superb occupancies in the major centers of Tamil Nadu, and the weekend numbers are expected to be solid here. Let’s see how much Saripodhaa Sanivaaram will collect in its lifetime.
