Prominent actress Meenakshi Chaudhary is ready to captivate audiences with her portrayal of housewife Sumathi in Lucky Baskhar. The film is scheduled to make a grand debut on December 31, 2024. In light of this upcoming release, we had the opportunity to sit down with her for an exclusive interview. Below is the transcript of our conversation.
What was it like filming Lucky Baskhar with Dulquer Salmaan?
Working with Dulquer Salmaan was a great learning experience. Both of us come from different language backgrounds, so we needed to prepare and adapt to fully express what the story required. The team was young, motivated, and understanding, making it easier for us. Dulquer’s professionalism and humility are truly inspiring.
How do you feel about playing a middle-class wife in Lucky Baskhar?
I can’t always play characters close to my age; I want to challenge myself. I believe I can play younger and older roles now, which may be harder to do later. This role as Sumathi was a great opportunity to do just that. I observed my mother and relatives to understand the character of Sumathi, who values family over money. They helped me bring strength and depth to this role.
What makes Lucky Baskhar special to you?
Every cast and crew member knew the film was something special. The young actor Rithvik, who plays my son, always came prepared and nailed his scenes. The production team did an amazing job recreating 1980s Bombay, and the technical crew brought the visuals and emotions to life, making it feel 100%.
What did you learn from working with Mahesh and Dulquer Salmaan?
Both are incredibly professional. Mahesh has an impressive discipline, while Dulquer’s preparation, attention to detail, and humility make him stand out. He inspired me to learn my Telugu lines and always give my best.
How was your experience working with Sithara Entertainments?
It’s been a wonderful experience; I feel like a family member to the producers. After Guntur Kaaram, I’ve grown comfortable working with them.
Why should audiences watch Lucky Baskhar?
Lucky Baskhar is full of relatable emotions. Every common person will see themselves on screen. Playing Sumathi made me feel closer to my parents, and I understood the sacrifices mothers make. This aspect is a real strength of the film.
What are your future projects?
Money will come when I continue to work on good projects. I’m excited to be a part of meaningful films and to grow as an actor.
