Kollywood hero Jiiva is a noted face among Telugu audiences, too, with the films Rangam and Snehithudu. For a long time, Jiiva didn’t have commercial success. A few of the actor’s films went unnoticed at the box office, too. Jiiva finally broke the shackles and scored a hit with the sci-fi horror thriller titled Black.
Written and directed by KG Balasubramani, the movie stars Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead. Black had a limited release initially as it locked horns with Superstar’s Vettaiyan at the box office. The movie received a good response from the audience on the release day. Despite not having a good release, the film went from strength to strength each passing day, riding on the glowing word of mouth.
Speaking at the success meet, Jiiva said, “After many years, a film of mine is having a success meet. I thank the audience for all their love. I will do more good films. I have more responsibility on my shoulders now. This is not a mass or comedy film. People are watching the film on the edge of their seats, thinking what will happen next. Black has a back-and-forth screenplay with elements such as quantum physics.”
Black started its second weekend with a bang, with many shows going housefull across Tamil Nadu yesterday. The movie is releasing today in Hyderabad, and we need to see whether or not the makers will release it in Telugu.
