Young and talented actor Kiran Abbavaram is set to captivate audiences on the silver screen with KA, a mystery thriller scheduled for a grand release on December 31, 2024. With anticipation building around the film, Kiran Abbavaram sat down with us to share his experiences and insights. Here are the highlights from our conversation.
Tell us about KA.
Directors Sandeep and Sujith presented a story filled with unpredictable twists. It felt fresh to set it against a ’70s backdrop, and they executed it innovatively. I’m confident the audience will connect with the story. Many assume the title is linked to my name, but that’s not the case – the meaning behind it is revealed in the climax.
Tell us about your character.
I play Abhinaya Vasudev, a postman in a rural village called Krishnagiri, set in 1977. Coming from a village myself, I related to this role. It’s a character we don’t often see, so I worked on capturing authentic speech and mannerisms to reflect that era.
You mentioned the climax is unique. Can you elaborate?
We approached the climax in a new way. It’s unlike any other, which is why I said that if the film doesn’t feel fresh, I won’t do more films. Some are comparing KA with Kantara or Virupaksha, but our story is purely psychological, with no devotional aspects. The suspense revolves around “who, what, and where,” keeping the audience guessing.
Are you worried about spoilers since it’s a suspense thriller?
Yes, a bit. We hope audiences who see it first will keep the twists under wraps. I trust the media to support us with reviews that don’t give away the surprises.
Your recent films didn’t meet audience expectations. How is KA different?
I’m aware fans were disappointed with my last two films, so we focused on making KA fresh and engaging. This film has a distinct, rustic feel, and the suspense unfolds in the climax. We believe viewers will feel they’ve experienced something unique.
How was it working with directors Sandeep and Sujith?
Both Sandeep and Sujith were focused and clear on set. They managed everything smoothly, including post-production. I enjoyed working with them, and their commitment to originality is commendable.
Tell us about the heroines.
Thanvi Ram plays Radha and does an exceptional job. Her character reveals much about our own. Nayan Sarika, as Satya Bhama, plays my character’s love interest. Both have vital roles in the story.
What are your future plans?
This year has been memorable for me – getting married and now KA’s release. After this, I plan to take a short break and then look ahead to my next project.
