Exactly 2 years after its theatrical release, Nikhil and Anupama Parameshwaran’s blockbuster socio-fantasy drama, Karthikeya 2, made news yesterday by winning the prestigious National Award for Best Telugu Film at the 70th National Film Awards. The film’s team celebrated the National Award win by interacting with the media.

During the interaction, one of the film’s producers, TG Vishwaprasad, confirmed that plans are on for Karthikeya 3. Asserting the producer’s announcement, the film’s director, Chandoo Mondeti, revealed that Karthikeya 3 is definitely on the cards and that he is currently working on the film’s script. Chandoo further said that the National Award will raise the expectations for the film’s sequel and that Part 3 will surpass the high expectations.

Well, going by these assurances from the makers, it’s almost certain that Karthikeya 3 will be going on floors sometime next year. The film, which also features Bollywood actor Anupam Kher in a key role, was a huge money-spinner and ended up collecting nearly Rs 200 crore at the box office.
