NTR’s Devara hit the screens yesterday in multiple Indian languages. Koratala Siva directed this action drama, which has Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead. Though Devara is a PAN Indian film, the team did limited promotions in non-Telugu regions. The pre-sales for the Hindi version weren’t impressive, but the movie picked up superbly with each passing show.
According to trade pundits, Devara’s Hindi version is said to have earned in the vicinity of 7-7.5 crores nett on its opening day. This coming, despite the dull promotional campaign, is an impressive feat. NTR’s market expansion after RRR, combined with the presence of Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, helped the film rake in a very good opening in the Hindi belt.
Going forward, Devara will be eying a 30 crore first weekend. The lifetime business will depend on the crucial Monday hold. If the hold is good, it may well cross the 100 crore nett mark, but again, there is fierce competition in the form of Alia Bhatt’s Jigra and Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Vala Video.
