Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT was released in theatres today amidst fan frenzy. Venkat Prabhu directed this espionage action thriller, and Vijay essayed dual roles as father and son. The reports for the Tamil version are positive, but the same is not the case with the Telugu version. While Vijay is being lauded for his performance, netizens are criticizing the film for its runtime, pacing issues, and placement of songs.
The breakeven target is huge in Telugu states, but the occupancies are not upto the mark on the opening day. There wasn’t much buzz in Telugu for The GOAT from the beginning, and the mixed response will not help the movie either. From here it will be an uphill task for the movie to reach the safe zone.
Nani starrer Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, on the other hand, is performing well in all territories and is cruising towards the 100 crore gross mark. Saripodhaa Sanivaaram’s performance will now get a boost in Telugu states as the reports for GOAT’s Telugu version are not favorable.
The Ganesh Chaturthi festival this weekend is the icing on the cake, and Nani’s film will once again become the first choice for filmgoers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Also, there are three weeks left for the release of NTR’s Devara, and till then, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram will have an uninterrupted run. Vivek Athreya directed this masala entertainer, and SJ Suryah played the antagonist.
