Kollywood star Chiyaan Vikram is a happy man. While his most-awaited period action drama, Thangalaan, released in cinemas worldwide on August 15 and registered a decent opening at the box office, the actor’s blockbuster historical magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan, earned 4 National Awards yesterday.

In a media interaction thatt was held in Hyderabad after the National Awards announcement, Vikram opened up about Thangalaan sequel. He confirmed that Thangalaan 2 will be going on floors very soon and that the team had discussed the sequel during the making of Thangalaan. “Thangalaan is the story of our soil. I was always confident that Telugu audiences would make our film a big hit. The credit goes to director Pa Ranjith. Actresses Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan performed brilliantly, and GV Prakash Kumar’s music took the film to the next level,” said Vikram.

Also starring Pasupathy and British actor Daniel in lead roles, Thangalaan is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under his Studio Green banner. The film has grossed close to Rs 50 crore in 2 days.
