Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 defied all the trade expectations and has set a monstrous record in Hindi cinema. The box office numbers registered by this horror comedy film are sure to shock you all. Stree 2 is now the second biggest all-time opener in Bollywood, surpassing SRK’s Pathaan. It raked in a bumper 55.4 crores nett and is only next to Jawan.
Stree 2 is ahead of the biggies like Animal, KGF 2, War, and Thugs Of Hindustan, which speaks volumes about the film’s acceptance among the audience. The paid previews on Wednesday night garnered another 9.4 crores nett, taking the total collection to 64.8 crores nett.
Here is an interesting fact. Stree, which was released in 2018, made 60 crores nett in its first week, and Stree 2 has overtaken that figure just with paid previews and opening day. Had Stree 2 arrived without competition, it would have had a shot at the unthinkable 70 crores nett.
Because of the unprecedented demand, yesterday the makers arranged midnight shows in top cities, which gave the film an extra push. The Independence Day holiday, the sequel factor, and the lack of entertainment in the recent Bollywood films helped Stree 2 to script history. This seems to be only the beginning of a box office marathon.
