Amid unprecedented hype and record pre-sales, Mahesh Babu’s 2001 family drama, Murari, had a re-release yesterday (Aug 9) in several single screens and multiplexes across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and even overseas. The film was released in 4K resolution as Superstar’s birthday treat for fans.

As expected, Murari registered a huge opening at the box office across the twin Telugu states. Fans had a gala time celebrating the movie and cherishing Mahesh Babu’s Nandi Award-winning performance after almost 23 years. Several pictures and videos of the actor’s fans celebrating outside and inside the movie theaters and bringing the roof down are going viral on social media.

Superstar fans have turned the Murari re-release into an event and set a new benchmark for all the upcoming re-releases. Since Mahesh Babu’s next is with the maverick Rajamouli, and the film might take a minimum of 2 years to hit theaters, we can expect a few more Mahesh Babu’s movies to make a comeback to the big screen in the interim.
